How we pick
These are the beginner-first rules we use before a tool shows up in Everyday AI Picker. If something fails the vibe check for non-techies, we leave it out — even if it's popular with developers.
Rule 1
Everyday tasks, not job titles
We organize by what you’re trying to do (write something, fix a photo) — not by “LLM platforms” or API docs.
Rule 2
Easy wins first
If a tool needs Discord commands, a credit card just to peek, or a 20-step setup, it’s probably not our first pick for beginners.
Rule 3
Free tier when we can
We label Free, Free + Paid, or Paid clearly. We prefer tools you can try without spending money on day one.
Rule 4
Plain English
No jargon walls. Taglines say what the tool does in one sentence a non-techie can repeat to a friend.
Rule 5
Official links only
“Try it” goes to the maker’s official site — not random download mirrors or unofficial wrappers.
Rule 6
Honest tradeoffs
Every tool page includes pros, cons, “best for,” and “skip if.” AI can still be wrong; we say so.
